So... they spoke against God and against Moses....so...God sent fiery serpents and their bite brought death to many. "WE have sinned by speaking against the Lord and against you" they said "intercede for us". So Moses put a fiery serpent on a standard and anyone that was bitten and looked at it was healed. Numbers 21: 4
You will die in your sins...When you have lifted up the son of man you will know that I am he. John 8 :21
The bronze serpent lifted up healed the Israelites and Jesus lifted up on the cross brings us eternal life. Focus on the future glory and not our past sins.
