Tuesday.

Nice to see RBB yesterday. He gave me some titanium shares shears as a birthday gift.

We briefly mused the significance of titanium. On further research it seems that it is used so the shears don't rust so easily. Actually titanium isn't that expensive. It is just hard to extract it.

Yes, I'm off to Feilding today.

Have fun and don't sin.

Titanium is a lustrous, silver-colored transition metal with the chemical symbol Ti and atomic number 22. It's known for its high strength-to-weight ratio, making it both lightweight and strong, as well as its excellent corrosion resistance. It's also non-toxic and has a high melting point.
Here's a more detailed look:
  • Properties:
Titanium is lightweight, strong, and resistant to rust and corrosion, even in saltwater and chlorine. It's relatively soft in its pure form but becomes very strong when alloyed with other metals.
  • Occurrence:
While not found freely in nature, it's abundant in minerals like rutile and ilmenite.
  • Uses:
Titanium is used in various industries, including aerospace, where its strength and low density are crucial for aircraft and spacecraft. It's also used in medical implants, sporting equipment, and as a pigment in paints, plastics, and paper (as titanium dioxide).
  • Titanium Dioxide:
This compound is a white, opaque substance used in many products like sunscreen (for UV protection) and as a pigment.
  • Extraction:
Titanium is extracted from its ores through complex processes, such as the Kroll process, which involves converting titanium ore into titanium tetrachloride and then reducing it with

  1. Titania is the Queen of the fairies in Shakespeare's comedy "A Midsummer Night's Dream". She got up to lots of things that you, Robert, will no doubt condemn.
Have fun but add some sin in there for spice OK?

Happy birthday. I hope that you've had a nice one. I guess that's why you're going to Feilding 😈
